Reading Corps is a national literacy program designed to help more children become proficient readers by the end of third grade1. Reading Corps tutors are trained to provide daily, twenty-minute sessions 1-on-1 or in pairs with Kindergarten through 3rd grade students2. A staff person at the school, called an Internal Coach, completes Reading Corps training prior to the school year and supports the tutors throughout the year2. Ampact is a national organization that creates innovative programs that focus on education, environmental stewardship, and healthy futures for communities3.

Member Duties : Reading tutors from Ampact will provide targeted reading skill practice, primarily in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency1. They are trained in 10 scripted reading interventions, along with additional content in equity and supporting social-emotional learning1. The tutors will be placed at a local school where they will help students in kindergarten through third grade to become better readers2. They will meet with students one-on-one or in pairs to provide extra practice and build skills2
